چکیده

Experimental data were acquired for: (1) the ignition temperatures of nitrogen–diluted ethylene and propylene by counterflowing heated air for various strain rates and system pressures up to 7 atm; (2) the laminar flame speeds of mixtures of air with acetylene, ethylene, ethane, propylene, and propane, deduced from an outwardly propagating spherical flame in a constant-pressure chamber, for extensive ranges of lean-to-rich equivalence ratio and system pressure up to 5 atm. These data, respectively, relevant for lowto intermediate-temperature ignition chemistry and high-temperature flame chemistry, were subsequently compared with calculated results using a literature C1–C3 mechanism and an ethylene mechanism. Noticeable differences were observed in the comparison for both mechanisms, and sensitivity analyses were conducted to identify the reactions of importance. 2004 The Combustion Institute. Further Study on Effects of Hydrogen Addition on Laminar Flame Speeds of Fuel-Air Mixtures

Laminar flame speeds of mixtures of ethane, ethylene, acetylene, and carbon monoxide with small amounts of hydrogen addition at both atmospheric and elevated pressures were experimentally and computationally determined. It was found that the approximate linear correlation identified previously between the laminar flame speeds and an appropriate definition of the amount of hydrogen addition for ...

Flame Speed Characteristics of Syngas (H2-CO) with Straight Burners for Laminar Premixed Flames

Laminar flame speeds of undiluted syngas (H2/CO) mixtures have been studied at atmospheric conditions using chemiluminescence and schlieren techniques for a straight cylindrical burner apparatus. A wide range of mixture composition, from pure H2 to 1/99 % H2/CO, has been investigated for lean premixed syngas flames. To achieve a better flame stabilization and reduce flame flashback propensity, ...

In-Situ Investigation of Gas Phase Radical Chemistry in the Catalytic Partial Oxidation of Methane on Pt

Available online 28 February 2009 Abstract The catalytic partial oxidation of methane on platinum was studied in situ under atmospheric pressure and temperatures between 1000 and 1300 °C. By combining radical measurements using a molecular beam mass spectrometer and threshold ionization with GC, GC-MS and temperature profile measurements it was demonstrated that a homogeneous reaction pathway i...

Chemical Kinetic Uncertainty Minimization through Laminar Flame Speeds of Mixtures of Air with C1-C4-Hydrocarbons

Performing high-fidelity simulations of complex reacting flows requires that the uncertainties associated with predictions of fundamental flame properties are characterized and minimized. Although the kinetics of C1-C4 hydrocarbon flames have been studied extensively in numerous past investigations, notable uncertainties exist. In the present study, the types of hydrocarbon fuels with the great...

A Numerical Investigation of Methane Air Partially Premixed Flames at Elevated Pressures

A numerical investigation of high pressure, counterflow methane-air partially premixed flames (PPFs) is presented to characterize the effect of pressure on flame structure. Four different mechanisms, namely GRI-2.11, GRI-3.0, the San Diego, and the C2 mechanisms have been examined. The mechanisms have been validated by comparing the predicted laminar flame speeds with experimental data. While t...
